Class Title: Going Pro--So You Want to Be an Author (Business/Publishing Edition)
Instructor(s): Kristen Lamb
Price(s): $50.00 USD
Where: WANA Virtual Classroom
When: Wednesday September 10th, 7 to 9 PM NY Time (US Eastern)
It's an AMAZING time to be a writer. Traditional gatekeepers no longer have the final say over who is published and who isn't, which is a mixed blessing. Great, we can all be published but…eh, great, we can ALL be published.
There is no perfect path. Each type of publishing offers unique strengths and weaknesses. The fantastic news is writers are no longer in a One-Size-Fits-All paradigm.
This class is designed to educate you on the reality of publishing, as opposed to what you might see in the movies. What really happens behind the scenes in a book's journey from author to consumer?
We'll also cover upcoming trends as well as the advantages and disadvantages of all paths of publishing (traditional, indie, and self-publishing). Additionally, like all "Gold Rushes" predators abound. This class will help you spot and avoid crooks.
Which publishing path we choose is a HIGHLY personal decision, but it is a business decision. Knowledge is power. This class is to help guide you when choosing partners for you and your work.
Not every author is cut out for self-publishing. Not all books work for traditional. There are a lot of variables to consider when planning our career path, and WANA is here to help.
